Patrick Fitzpatrick practices in civil litigation, primarily in commercial litigation. His practice involves contractual disputes, intellectual property litigation, shareholder litigation, employment law and various other civil and commercial litigation matters. Mr. Fitzpatrick has appeared as counsel in the Alberta Court of Appeal, Alberta Court of Queen's Bench, Alberta Provincial Court, Manitoba Court of Appeal, Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench, Federal Court (Trial Division) and the Tax Court of Canada. In 1992-1993, Mr. Fitzpatrick was a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada. In 1998-2000, Mr. Fitzpatrick was a part-time Sessional Instructor at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law.

Mr. Fitzpatrick received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Winnipeg in 1987, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Manitoba in 1990. He was gold medalist of the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law's 1990 graduating class. Mr. Fitzpatrick was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1991, and to the Alberta Bar in 2001. He practised law in Winnipeg until moving to Calgary in 2000, and joined Burstall Winger LLP in 2005.

Mr. Fitzpatrick is a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the CanLearn Society for Persons with Learning Difficulties; a former Director of Autism Calgary Association; a former Director of Winnipeg Crime Stoppers; and a former Director, Treasurer and Honorary President of the Manitoba Youth Parliament.
