Recognized as one of the world's most distinguished lawyers in the energy sector, Mr. Johnson has guided major businesses and governments through the intricacies of corporate mergers and acquisitions, property acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, product purchases and sales and environmental matters. He has acted as counsel in large mediation cases and as arbitrator in major oil and gas disputes. He has also provided advice on corporate director and officer liabilities and obligations, and on the development and implementation of business strategies.

Mr. Johnson is a qualified lawyer in Canada (Alberta) and England and Wales. He has been recognized internationally as a leading oil and gas lawyer by Chambers Global's The World's Leading Lawyers, International Who's Who Legal - Oil and Gas, Lexpert, Lexpert American Lawyer and the Legal Media Group Guide to the World's Leading Energy and Natural Resources Lawyers.

He is a former chair of the Canadian Institute of Resources Law, a past president of the Canadian Petroleum Law Foundation (now the Canadian Energy Law Foundation) and served on the Legal Advisory Committee of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. He has authored dozens of articles and papers and lectured on legal and corporate matters. Mr. Johnson is also a past president of the Ranchmen's Club, Calgary.
