Kevin Plowman is a partner in the Banking, Corporate & Commercial, Technology & Intellectual Property groups of the Firm. His practice focuses primarily on banking, with equal emphasis on borrowers' and lenders' work, corporate-commercial transactions; commercial real estate transactions and leasing. Mr. Plowman is also a registered Trade-mark Agent and has advised his clients extensively on trade-mark and copyright applications and interests.
Mr. Plowman regularly advises financial institutions, institutional lenders and borrowers on bilateral and syndicated financings. He is also involved in a number of corporate and commercial transactions in various industry segments including: debt financings, acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, and commercial real estate development.
Some of Mr. Plowman's representative work includes:
- Advising borrowers on Canadian and international bilateral and syndicated transactions
- Acting as lead counsel for financial institutions on bilateral and syndicated transactions
- Advising clients on complex matters involving the Personal Property Security Act
- Structuring and advising on Mortgage Investment Corporations
- Commercial Interests in Banking, Real Estate and Oil and Gas sectors
- Trade-mark and copyright applications and advising clients generally in terms of applications, rights and disputes
Mr. Plowman received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Manitoba in 1991. He was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1992 and practiced in Manitoba principally in the areas of banking and corporate & commercial law until 1997. Mr. Plowman was called to the Alberta Bar in 1998 and joined Burstall Winger LLP in 1999.
Mr. Plowman is a member of the Commercial Real Estate, Business and Intellectual Property Law subsections of the Calgary and Canadian Bar Associations. He is involved with a number of community volunteer organizations. Mr. Plowman has also presented at numerous continuing legal education seminars dealing with corporate & commercial, intellectual property and banking law issues.
