Douglas M. Stuve practices primarily in the area of corporate and securities law. He acts for both underwriters and issuers in respect of initial public offerings, secondary financings and mergers and acquisitions, as well as all dealings with regulators including stock exchanges and securities commissions. In addition, his corporate commercial practice includes asset and share acquisitions and dispositions, as well as general commercial law.
Mr. Stuve obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1988. Subsequently he attended Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1991. He articled with the Toronto law firm Davies, Ward & Beck where his principal area of practice was corporate finance and commercial acquisitions. In February 1993 Mr. Stuve was called to the Bar in Ontario and became a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He returned to Alberta and was called to the Alberta Bar in January 1994. Mr. Stuve joined Burstall Winger LLP as an associate in July 1993 and became a partner in April 1998.
Mr. Stuve is a member of the Securities Law and Business Law subsections of the Canadian Bar Association.
